HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE! Just wanted to thank everyone that supported me and the brand for this past year.
2009 is going to be a big year for everyone. Look out for the collaboration with Mos Def, another adidas shoe, the official/unofficial Presidential Inauguration t-shirt and a whole lotta the same. Basketball like its never been presented.
So everyone be safe and celebrate like you just won a championship... I wonder what Jim Jones will be doing? Let's just hope the robot thingy goes away. Terrible!

We're back at it. Launching today on UNDRCRWN.COM are the "Brand for Champions" UNDRCRWN & ADIDAS 3 signature collaboration shoes.
With the way adidas releases signature shoes now, UNDRCRWN is considered a marquee athlete. Like T-Mac, KG, Gil, Dwight Howard, etc. etc., Undrcrwn is asked to put our twist onto the signature models that are shared by other athletes.
With this collaboration we wanted to make sure that they all looked different but told the same story.
All 3 shoes are all things that come with winning.
The Commander Hi represents all things aspirational. Luxury goods, gold, diamonds, trophy wives, fancy cars, etc.
The Creator Mid is a bit more litteraly. It's made up of championship rings and trophy motifs.
The Creator Low represents things that get better with time. Classic with a twist. Basically saying that you can never take away what you accomplish.

The latest creation from the homies at 10 deep. By far my favorite brands. I had all the early tees. It's good to see the progression of brands. They've been true to creativity. There latest lookbook and products are dope.
peep it all here.
SNOW BUSINESS? SERIOUSLY? I'm jealous. Good shit!

I was raised and cultured during nike's greatest era (to me at least). I learned design and marketing by being affected by their products and marketing. I used to look forward to seeing logos for all the athletes that they signed. This was before EVERYONE got a shoe deal. So here is one of my favorites. Before Cwebb bugged out and jumped the nike ship, he had a cool logo and a good shoe.
Also, while watching the pre-fight hype for Pacquio vs. some dude, I noticed that it was a NIke commercial. Anyways, I kind of like it... Well not 100% sure yet.
I'm glad they didn't make it a boxing glove with a pac man mouth. Wait, that might be funny.
More to come on Filipinos and Pacman. No designing on Saturday. (Yes. I have a theory that Filipinos are the most creative people in our industry... right Ray?)
Also here are some old logos that I did while at AND1, ADI, etc.

I was trained in artschool (CCAC in SF) to be a designer. It was a really conceptual school. I learned how to be a designer. Believe it or not just because you have a copy of adobe illustrator or photoshop and a website, doesn't make you a designer. They hand that title out way too much these days. (sorry for the rant, but I'm still paying off school loans)
I really try to look at things through my own lense. Creation is not always based on history, trend or even sales. What I enjoy seeing is when people challenge what is expected and it doesn't end up being an art project for a designers ego. Designers everyday design with what is expected. It makes money but at the end of the day you aren't designing anything you are "curating" or "styling."
When I saw this video I remembered why I got into design. Why do things because of the norm or what has been done for ever. You can look at UNDRCRWN and say that I am a hypocrite because we do the same shit everyone else does but I'd challenge that with the conceptual part of not only the brand but the product as well. UNDRCRWN take what is expected out of the basketball world and makes it ours.

With all the hype behind Obama, everyone and there mom has an Obama tee. Even my mom. (mom it's coming I promise!)
So I'd like to start shouting out the bootlegs. We've been bootlegged before and I was hoping to find out how to get some work for these guys.
As you can see our concept was taken a step further with the newspaper concept and the airbrushed illustration. I personally think way more hood friendly and cheaper than our $28 pricetag. This shirt was bought for $10 on 25th and Broadway in NYC.
My only criticism is the tagline at the bottom "OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW". It would have been a lot stronger if it were George W. Not McCain.
Coming from someone that lived 4 blocks from Canal St. & Broadway in NY, I used to see the hood buy 5xl BAPE hoodies in bulk. It was amazing quality too. Damn near better than the original. The bootleg designs are getting better and the execution is as good as everything on the market. Atleast in streetwear.
So please send photos of all bootlegs to email@example.com, I will post the best ones. Please list where you found them so we can plug the spot. (no hate here).
So again, if anyone knows who produces these tees and supplies Sante Alley, Canal St. and all of Oakland, let me know. I have some heat for you.

This was one of the shoes that I did for Gil. It was based off of his myspace address which was blackpresident01.
One of my favorite ones of the 20. You gotta love the foresight. I'm sure Gil will tell everyone that he predicted it 2 years ago when we started designing the 20 shoes together. Need to get some of these shoes to the real black president when he put's the court in. and FYI I had nothing to do with those KG and Tmac "EMBRACE CHANGE SHOES". No offense.
